On the 12th of March 2020 the world lost Francesca: a unique and

unforgettable force that can never be replaced. She was beautiful, she

was brave and she was feisty. She faced life head on, never letting illness

deprive her of an adventure or a challenge and for her husband, her

childhood sweetheart, who she married at just sixteen, her three children,

10 grandchildren and three great grandchildren Francesca was “Simply the Best”

​

The song was her anthem: it was the one she loved to perform on Karaoke

with that powerhouse voice of hers that could fill a stage, it was the song

that made her sparkle and dance in the kitchen whenever she heard it

and, sadly, it was the song that echoed through the small stone chapel as

we held her high on our shoulders that spring morning, proud to carry her

for the last time.

As you sit for a while on her bench and admire the wild open beauty of

your surroundings, take a moment to think of her and the place that she

loved. Imagine her water skiing on the early morning tide as her husband

drives their little red speedboat, or her voice wafting from a beach fire as

she cooked hot potatoes and marshmallows. This was a special place for

her and her family. If you listen you might hear her great grandchildren

running along the beach.

A meandering path of raw emotions, of nettles and bluebells 

has brought us here, to her bench by the sea; wild and beautiful and free

​
